About Us
The core beliefs that guide Borderless actions
-
Solidarity. We aspire to embody the values we envision for our culture and society, supporting one another to uphold our sovereignty and remain steadfast in our values. We aim to foster a collective commitment to interdependence and shared liberation in the local and regional economy, guided by cooperation, democracy, justice, sustainability, and mutual benefit to meet our material needs.
-
Trust. We believe in the expertise of Black and Indigenous individuals who understand the needs and effective solutions within their communities. A thriving society is one where all voices are valued, empowering individuals to influence their communities, workplaces, and governments.
-
Shared abundance. We believe in abundance through sharing resources, including our time and talents. We can create prosperity for all with a cooperative and community-minded approach while staying true to our values.
-
Healing. Reconciling wholeness as a person involves recognizing all individuals' inherent dignity and humanity. We work to counter selective apathy portrayed in systems, media, and narratives affecting Black and Indigenous groups. We honor Black and Indigenous communities by creating collective spaces for healing from trauma and providing support opportunities for individuals and organizations to foster healing.
-
Racial wellness Racial trauma can challenge our ability to thrive; however, resistance heals. Emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental resistance is an act of collective care. Racial Wellness refers to the act of resistance through practices we incorporate into our lives to address the emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual impact of racism on our well-being.
-
Reverence. We have profound respect and love for Black & Indigenous communities.
-
Pan African Liberation. Our objective is to change systemic oppression and its impact on our communities due to dominance, privilege, and oppression. We aim to support the liberation of all people, from local to global levels, by addressing systems of domination and acknowledging how these systems operate within us and our organizations.
-
Self-determination. Everyone should have the resources, equitable opportunity, and freedom to live their fullest potential.
-
Honoring our ancestors. Our power, strength, and values come from our ancestors and carry us forward in our ways of knowing. We honor them by centering their values and ways of knowing, which we build on.
